Fugro has won contracts to carry out geophysical and geotechnical site surveys for the development of two large-scale offshore wind farms in the German North Sea.
The projects, known as Windbostel Ost and Windbostel West, and jointly developed by RWE and TotalEnergies, will have a combined installed capacity of 4 GW, making them among the largest offshore wind initiatives in Europe.
The resulting data will support foundation design, structural integrity assessments, subsea cable routing, and risk management throughout the construction and operational life cycle of the projects.
The latest contract builds on Fugro’s prior involvement in Germany’s offshore wind sector, including geotechnical work on the 1.6 GW Nordseecluster project — where RWE holds a 51% stake — and earlier preliminary investigations conducted for the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).
