ASWAN, July 15, 2025 – Dubai’s AMEA Power has successfully commissioned a 300-MWh battery energy storage system in Egypt, the company said on Tuesday.
The battery facility is fully powered by solar energy and was delivered ahead of schedule. It extends the company’s 500-MW solar PV plant in Aswan, Egypt’s largest single-site solar facility.
The commissioning follows the project’s recent financial close and marks AMEA Power’s first utility-scale storage initiative in North Africa. It supports Egypt’s 2035 Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy and aims to enhance electricity grid stability.
“This commissioning milestone reaffirms our long-term commitment to Egypt as a key partner in driving innovation and sustainability across Africa,” AMEA Power chairman Hussain Al Nowais said.
The project was financed by the International Finance Corporation, highlighting strong international partnerships in advancing African energy infrastructure.
Headquartered in Dubai, AMEA Power is a developer, investor, owner and operator of renewable energy projects. It operates across Africa, the Middle East and emerging Asia, with a pipeline exceeding 6 GW and more than 2,600 MW in operation or under construction.
